Update v0.2 released
HereSphere update v0.2 is now available with improvements to SMB, the web browser, and some additional bug fixes. Please note that this update changes the way the saved data is handled, so saved data from v0.1 will not transfer over.
SMB fixes and improvements:
- Improved SMB streaming speed to support playing videos with very high bitrates without buffering.
- Fixed SMB implementation to work with SMB shares hosted on MacOS.
- IP address and SMB share detection occasionally works when reading from a Windows SMB share. Sometimes it might fail to discover the shares, but you can bookmark the root server location, and click on the bookmark a couple times to refresh the page. SMB shares hosted on MacOS still require the share folder to be manually entered.
- Added some error messages to better explain what could be causing SMB connection issues.
- Fixed an issue with the player slowing down or freezing up after streaming 20 videos from an SMB share.
- Fixed an issue where SMB videos with the # character would not play.
- The thumbstick left/right can now be used to navigate forward and backward in the SMB directory history.
Web browser fixes:
- Fixed streaming from download links for most websites (still need to figure out how to handle popups).
- The homepage can now be properly applied and loaded on startup.
- Added a button to assign the currently opened website as the homepage.
- Fixed the "Remember last url" toggle, so that the web browser automatically saves and loads the last visited website.
Saved data changes:
- Updating to v0.2 will cause you to lose access to your current saved data. You can export your video settings to HSP files ahead of time if you want to save them. The save method used in v0.1 causes issues when uninstalling and reinstalling the app. The saved data isn't removed when uninstalling, which was intended to help users keep their saved data across reinstalls. But the Android OS makes it so UE4's saved data becomes incompatible with reinstalled apps (they're recognized as different packages), so the app can't load the saved data, leading to a crash on launch.
- For future updates, if you want to keep your saved data, just install the update on top of the current app installation, without uninstalling the app first.
- Fixed an issue with data not being saved when exiting the app from the Oculus menu instead of the Exit HereSphere button.
- Fixed an issue with the video resume time not saving for the currently opened video when exiting the app.
Other changes:
- Fixed an issue with the equirectangular projection producing bad geometry under certain lens and stitching settings.
- Added a "Delete Current File" button above the seek bar, which will show a prompt asking the user to confirm the deletion of the currently playing file.
- If a video that is open is being deleted, the player will now automatically play a new video.
